A question specifically for Andrew Hampton, as current Director-General GCSB NZ.

Dear Andrew,

How come the GCSB / (The New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC)) is advertising so many cyber-security related functions lately (when only a few people are needed to
get the job done). While at the same time specifically, by choice of process, excluding the type of people who have proven to be
best suited for those positions to get the desired results!?
Currently leaving the NZIC to operate with people who try to make due with a crucial lack of deep front-line field experience and
needed specific know-how, with NZIC's current selection preference for local theoretical academics, as most bureaucracies tend
to prefer.

It seems like the NZIC ivory tower is still as strong as before, even after the own govt reports about the crippling effect it has
when security services refuse to have *2 way* contact with the 'outside' world. The talks Rebecca Kitteridge  did at Vic-Uni about
"impenetrable exterior and isolation", and voiced promises that the issue would be resolved, have proven to be mostly empty
intentions or lack of know-how of to get it actually done?

At the moment it is far too easy to get into NZ Critical Infrastructure networks, and sensitive data from NZ.govt systems, and
even GCSB/NCSC related inside data is leaking to the internet every day...
Mostly because there is still a big gap between what is stated on paper that has been done (creating a false sense of security),
and.. that what actually has (not) been implemented from the simple short-list of basic elementary protections measures..


Maybe you would like to have an informal chat about the subject matter, at some point?
